Gloria Lemme (nee Roncaglio), passed away at Lutheran Care Center on March 20, 2021 after a short illness.  She was 101 1/2 year old.

Gloria was born in Bronx, NY on July 11, 1919.  She was the daughter of Romeo and Mary (DeRose) Roncaglio.  Gloria grew up in the Bronx and relocated to Marlboro in the late 1960's with her husband Samuel, and their children.  After many years spent living in Marlboro, Gloria and Samuel moved to Sarasota, FL, where she enjoyed 40 wonderful years.

She returned to New York in 2017 at the age of 97 and became a resident at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie, NY, where she resided until her death.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Samuel, in 1987; her daughter, Theresa Lemme, in 1981; and her granddaughter, Amber Lemme, in 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Maryanne Quick and her husband, Patrick of Milton, NY; her sons, Joseph Lemme of Sarasota, FL and Samuel Lemme, Jr., of Port Richey, FL; her grandchildren, Rachel Ahrenholz and her husband, Kevin of Highland, NY; Ryan Lemme, of Baltimore, MD and her great-granddaughter, Quinn Ahrenholz of Highland, NY, who she loved more than life itself.

Gloria will be remembered for her "hands of gold."  She knitted and crocheted all her life.  Her many beautiful handmade afghans were gifts of love to so many people who treasure them to this day.  She was a member of the Knit & Sew Club of the First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, FL, where she knitted hundreds of caps for our soldiers overseas as well as baby blankets and other baby items for mothers in need.

Gloria was kind, wonderful and generous to a fault.  She never hesitated to say "thank you" many times a day.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends who have had the good fortune to know her and have her in their lives for many, many years.

Her family will be forever grateful to the entire staff of Lutheran Care Center for their love, care, support and professionalism as well as to wonderful family friends, Nancy and Peter Slingerland of Poughkeepsie, NY and Winsome and Frank Ostrander of Olive Bridge, NY.
