Are you currently working in a dental or orthodontic office and need to meet New York State educational eligibility requirements for licensure? Then the Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education Center’s Dental Assistant program is for you! In this 26-week program, students will learn about the finer points of sitting “chairside” to a dental professional through both informative lectures and practical skills demonstrations.

The course begins on October 12 and will cover a variety of disciplines, including:
Introduction to Ethics, Dental Anatomy, Surfaces, Charting Methods, Infection Control, Sterilization, Dental Records, Front Desk Receptionist Duties, and Oral Hygiene. Under the guidance of a registered/certified dental assistant, students will benefit from lectures and demonstrations.

In order to complete this course, students must pass 16 exams and accrue at least 1,000 hours of relevant work experience under a licensed dentist’s direct personal supervision.

Classes will take place at the Career & Technical Center in Port Ewen on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 2022. Attendance required at both nights of class per week.

The cost of the course is $1,500. Prerequisites to enroll are current employment in a dental office; proof of high school, GED, or TASC diploma; and a registration appointment. Registration appointments can be made by calling (845) 331-5050, ext. 2243. Seating is limited. Secure your spot today!
