Ellen Elizabeth Clare Hoctor Healy, 66, of Essex Junction, Vermont, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, after an extended illness, surrounded by her family.

Born in the Bronx, New York, in 1957, and raised on Long Island. Ellen was the daughter of Edward and Noreen Hoctor, both of whom predeceased her. As the oldest of eight surviving siblings, Ellen was a cornerstone in her family, providing guidance, love, and support throughout her life.

Ellen was the beloved mother of five children: Timothy (married to Siobhan), Jane (married to Adonis), Kara (married to Christopher), Alicia, and Ryan (married to Mary) who she raised lovingly with Terrence Healy. She was also the proud grandmother, affectionately known as "Lola," to eleven grandchildren: Jillian, Ryker, Molly, Emilia, Rhys, Hudson, Chloe, Nora, Clare, Hendrix, and Henry. Ellen cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Ellen's family was her greatest joy, and one of her favorite pastimes was taking trips to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, with her loved ones. She treasured these vacations, where the family gathered to relax, share laughter, and make lasting memories by the ocean.

Ellen had a deep commitment to her community and spent many years involved in local organizations and causes. She was an active member of the PTA, where she helped support and enrich the lives of children in her community. She served as a dedicated school board member, where her passion for education and children’s well-being made a lasting impact.

Her creative spirit flourished through her love of crafting, particularly cross-stitching, and she shared her beautiful creations with family and friends. Ellen was also a proud volunteer at the Milton Train Station and served as the director of the Gomez Mill House in Middle Hope, New York, a historic site that she was passionate about preserving and sharing with the community.

Ellen was also a beloved sister, aunt, and friend. Her nieces and nephews affectionately called her "Auntie El," and she was a constant source of love, wisdom, and support to them.

Throughout her life, Ellen was known for her kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Her last selfless act was donating her organs to those in need, a final gift of hope and life to others, exemplifying the generosity and love she embodied throughout her life. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her, and her nurturing spirit and selfless devotion to her family and community will be remembered by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Milton Train Station, where Ellen's love for history and community will be honored. All who knew her are welcome to join her family in remembering her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to ConnectLife.org or the Vermont Kidney Association (VermontKidneyAssociation.org), organizations that were meaningful to Ellen.

Ellen will be deeply missed, but her memory and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and all who knew her.
