It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin F. Williams Jr., who passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2024, at the age of 88 after a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Margaret F. Williams, loving father of Edwin, Annette and Maria, and cherished grandfather and great grandfather.
Born on August 22, 1936, in Walden, New York, Edwin was the son of the late Edwin and Mary (Wolfe) Williams.
He graduated from Walden High School where he met Margaret, his wife of 68 years. He then served our country in the National Guard in Newburgh. After his service he was a design draftsman for Spence Engineering in Walden. Followed by several years of entrepreneurship owning businesses such as a soda shop, hardware store, furniture store and laundromat, until he discovered his passion for real estate.
During his career in Real Estate, he was a General Contractor for several subdivisions in his community, he acquired and managed several investment properties, and owned Century 21 Real Estate franchises in Walden, Montgomery and Goshen, NY. Throughout his life Edwin was a valuable member of his community serving on the boards of many associations, as well as a member of many committees and clubs, particularly the Town of Montgomery Assessment Board of Review and the Lions Club.
Edwin was known for his kindness, generosity, strong work ethic, words of wisdom and his sense of humor. He was an active member of Most Precious Blood Church. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family, especially at our family home in Bolton Landing, New York.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Williams, his son Edwin F. Williams III and his wife Cherie, his daughter Annette Williams Bauer and her husband Richard, his daughter Maria Williams Wagnblas and her husband Adam; his grandchildren Kathryn Williams Lee (Dan), Riley Williams, Lydia Williams, Evan Williams, Richard Bauer III (Ryan), Matthew Bauer (Kayla), Sean Bauer (Rachel), Ashley Wagnblas, Grace Wagnblas, Ryan Wagnblas, and many great grandchildren; his sister Verda Martin, and brother-in-law Joseph Finn Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Arthur Williams, Anthony Williams, Dennis Williams and his sisters Dorothy Finn and Mary Williams.
Visitation will take place Friday, November 1, 2024, 4pm-7pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday November 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Church, 42 Walnut St., Walden Burial will follow in Wallkill Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Edwin’s memory.
Edwin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
