College and career fair coming to Highland and Wallkill

Posted

On Tuesday, April 25, Highland High School and Wallkill Senior High School students will have the chance to learn about alternate options post graduation.

In the past, both schools have collaborated with over 50 different colleges to discuss post-secondary education with students. Students would meet with university representatives to discuss admission requirements, different programs, campus life, and financial aid.

This year, Wallkill and Highland High Schools have taken a different approach.

They have partnered with the Ulster County Department of Labor, local unions, military branches and other groups to provide students with alternate post-secondary options.

This event is open to students only and begins at 9:15 a.m. for breakfast at Highland high school. The Highland college and career fair begins at 9:40 and ends at 11 a.m.

Wallkill’s activities begin at 11:30 with a luncheon, which is followed by a noon to 1:30 p.m. fair.

Wallkill High School counselor Sara Veach mentioned that everyone working on this is excited about the direction the fair is taking.
