Annette Liberia Lyons, 79, a lifelong area resident, passed away February 14, 2023 at home after a year long struggle with cancer.
In 1943 Annette was born the daughter of the late Jerome and Angela (Burrasca) Bezzaro in Highland, NY. She is also predeceased by her brother Phillip B. Bezzaro. Annette attended Highland Schools and the Sheddon Beauty Academy in Newburgh, NY. She then worked as a hairdresser in Poughkeepsie and for her mother's Ann's Beauty Salon in Highland for several years, then enjoyed packing apples for area farmers.
Annette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Christian all her life and truly believed in the power of prayer. She was forever helping family and extended family members as well as troubled friends with cooking and transportation to doctors. She loved everything about the Holidays. For over 50 years she hosted family and friends who might otherwise be alone.
On January 18, 1969, at the Milton-Marlboro Methodist Church she married Peter J. Lyons who survives at home. She is also survived by her children; Jerryann Ryerson and her husband David, Peter A. Vona, III and his wife Elizabeth, both of Highland and Arthur P. Lyons and his wife Jennifer of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by her Grandchildren; Megan Eckert and her husband Marc, Melissa Thompson and her husband David of Hyde Park, and Clark and Juliet Lyons of Saratoga Springs. Since 2019 Annette has become a Great Grandmother to Michael and Mason Eckert and Jace and Bryce Thompson. She was an aunt to four nieces and two nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 10-11:30am at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro.
Graveside Prayer Services will be held at Highland Cemetery, Vineyard Avenue, Highland officiated by Pastor Joseph Kurry of the Calvary Church of Highland. A reception will follow at the Ship Lantern Inn, Milton for her invited family and friends.
