Real Bouffard, 78, of Wallkill, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, while surrounded by family.
Real was born on June 10, 1945, in Newport, VT. He served in the United States Army. When he left the military, he served as a Police Officer for a short time in the City of Beacon. He then joined the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer for 35 years.
Real was predeceased by his parents Lionel and Irene Bouffard, his sisters Estel Nicklaw and Denise Noland. He was also predeceased by his daughters Lorie Lynn and Lisa Noel.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Steven Bouffard and his wife Michelle, daughter Jolene Bouffard and companion Michael Eggleton, his grandchildren Lisa Bouffard, Ava, Brody, and Ella Wahl, his brothers Andre, Norman, Arman and Conrad Bouffard, his sister Marguerite Arrick, as well as many friends and family.
Visitation will be held at Wallkill Funeral Home, 12 Bona Ventura Avenue, Wallkill, on Friday, September 22, from 5 -8 p.m. A prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank Real’s dear friend, retired Lt. Michael Glass, and his wife Diane for their compassion and support. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the west team at Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties who took tremendous care of him for the past two years, as well as the staff at Kaplan Family Hospice for their care in his final days.
