Michael Joseph Rodia, Sr., a devoted husband, father and grandfather and overall great guy, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on September 2, 2023. He was 68.
The son of Gennaro and Anna Rodia, Michael was born in Madrid, Spain and traveled the world with his military family as a child before settling in Brooklyn, New York and later Montgomery.
Michael served in the United States Army. He was employed at Verizon for over 30 years. He was incapable of sitting still in retirement and went on to work as a school bus driver for the Valley Central School District for almost 10 years.
Michael’s sarcasm, quick wit, sensibility and good advice will be truly missed by his friends and family. He was the kind of man that never complained and would do anything to support his loved ones when they needed him. No drive was too long and no task was unmanageable. He was somehow always in the area or already happened to be completing whatever errand you needed - nothing was a bother for him.
In his free time he loved to take road trips with his wife, spend time with his family, tinker on projects, wander around Walmart, fish with his kids and grandkids and nap wherever a comfy chair and TV were available.
Services took place Wednesday September 6, 2023.
Memorial contributions can be made in Michael’s name to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan.
