Margaret “Peggy” Nicol of Walden, passed away on Sunday, September 3 in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina. She was 87.
The daughter of the late Charles and Amy Coghlan, she was born December 28, 1935 on Staten Island. Peg was the widow of Robert Nicol who predeceased her in 2014, and her son Bob Nicol predeceased her in 2016.
Peggy was a graduate of St.Joseph Hill Academy on Staten Island and Brockport State Teachers College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Physical Education in 1956. She taught Physical Education in the Schenectady, N.Y. area, Newburgh and Lee Road School in Cornwall, for 30 years.
Peg loved to play golf and was a member of Osiris Country Club in Walden. And Litchfield Country Club in Litchfield, SC. She also attended Most Precious Blood Church in Walden, NY and Saint Michael’s Church in Garden City, SC.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Shattuck and her husband Scott Shattuck of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Carol Webster and husband Bill Webster of Town of Newburgh, one grandson Bobby Grahn and wife Ashley and their two sons Grayson and Silas of Manning, SC.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family at a later date. Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
