Carol Silbert Schwartz passed away, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 20, 2023, after a several months’ long battle with cancer.
Born to Helen and Daniel “Nick” Silbert in Augusta, GA on September 24,1953,
Carol married her devoted husband, Michael, in 1977, spending time in Jacksonville, FL and Atlanta, GA before moving north to Rockaway, NJ and starting a family and ultimately settling in New Windsor, where she worked as Office Manager at B. Reilly Wealth Management (formerly Copans & Company) for 38 years. Carol remained a proud Southerner at heart, even while spending most of her adult life in the Northeast.
Carol loved spending time with her family, be it in person visits or long phone conversations with her sister and best friend, JoEllen. She cherished her time with her children, Harris and Stacy, and adored her time with and showing off her granddaughters, Alexa and Julianna.
Her smile and laughter were infectious, and could bring joy to any room she entered. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed tremendously.
Carol is survived by her husband, Michael of New Windsor, son Harris (Amy) of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter Stacy of Fernandina Beach, FL, granddaughters Alexa and Julianna of Pittsburgh, PA, sister JoEllen (Kenneth) Copans of New Windsor, and nephews Richard (Vanessa) Copans of Chicago, IL and Mark Copans of Newburgh along with their children and a large extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Daniel Silbert, and nephew, Scott Copans.
Funeral services were held Congregation Agudas Israel, on Tuesday, August 22. Shiva was observed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings last week.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County or the Scott Copans Memorial Library at Congregation Agudas Israel.
