Christmas Dinner served about 120 in Highlands community

While most folks were enjoying Christmas morning at home in Highland Falls, several dozen people pulled together to prepare and deliver about 120 traditional Christmas dinners (turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc.) to community residents and essential workers in the Town of Highlands. Organizer Christin Byrnes said that donations were plentiful this year – “we were even able to donate some unopened goods to the food pantry,” she said.

The meal prep work was based in the kitchen in the Sacred Heart School, as it has been for decades.
“I would to love to thank everyone who donated money, food, and/or their time to make this dinner successful again this year,” Byrnes said. “I received calls from newer members of our community looking to help and we had more donations than usual this year.”

Those looking to get a head start on donating to next year’s meal are welcome to do so. Checks can be made out to Sacred Heart (note: “Christmas Dinner” in the Memo Line), and mailed to Sacred Heart Church at 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928.
