Meals on Wheels (MOW) of Greater Newburgh is hosting its third charity golf tournament, “Take a Swing at Hunger,” on Monday, July 24 at the historic Powelton Club in Newburgh. Proceeds will go to MOW, whose volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to elderly and disabled people in New Windsor and the City and Town of Newburgh.
Tournament Director Joe Dirago said, “the tournament goal is to raise $16,000 to provide a free year-long supply of meals for our neediest clients.” Corporate and individual donations are welcomed.
The event will feature 18 holes of golf at the beautiful and prestigious Powelton Club course, one of the oldest and most scenic in the nation. Early reduced fee golf registrations are accepted until May 24; final deadline for golf and sponsorships is June 30.
In addition to greens fees and cart, the $200 registration fee also includes breakfast, bar cart, cocktail hour, dinner, dessert and prizes. Event day begins with breakfast at 9 am, shotgun start at 10 am, reception at 2 pm, dinner at 3 pm, followed by the Awards Ceremony, including drawing the winning 50-50 raffle tickets.
