State Police arrest Town of Newburgh man for felony DWI

Posted

On February 28,, at approximately 5 a.m. State Troopers from the Montgomery barracks observed a 2021 Hyundai Santa-Fe westbound in the median on Interstate 84 in the town of Newburgh. Traffic was at a standstill on 84 because of a tractor trailer blocking the roadway.

Troopers approached the vehicle in the median to determine if the operator needed assistance. Troopers identified the operator as Eric Mack, 30 from the town of Newburgh. Mack stated that he drove off the roadway while heading home.

While speaking with troopers it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol, and he was subsequently arrested. Mack had a previous DWI conviction in 2019 so he was charged with felony DWI. He refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.

Mack was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court on April 7.
