Downtown Newburgh will come alive this weekend for the Annual Shop Downtown Passport Event, a two-day celebration of shopping, dining, and community. Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30, and Sunday, Dec. 1, the event will feature over 30 local businesses showcasing the best of Newburgh’s historic downtown corridor.
Visitors can begin their journey at Newburgh Mercantile, 75 Broadway, where passports will be available starting at 11 a.m. each day. Shoppers will use the passports to collect stamps from participating businesses, earning raffle tickets for prizes with every four stamps collected. Completed passports can be dropped off at designated locations for a chance to win giveaways.
The event highlights Newburgh’s growing small business community, with several new participants joining this year, including Big Mouth Coffee Roasters, Mesha K. Naturals Inc., and The Parlour at Midnight Ferry. Restaurants, cafes, and breweries will also offer special discounts and menu features, making it a weekend to savor as well as shop.
“We’re excited to showcase the unique offerings of our small businesses,” said Jacqui Watkins, event organizer and owner of Newburgh Mercantile. “This is more than shopping — it’s about connecting with our community and supporting local entrepreneurs.”
In a show of support, the City of Newburgh announced that metered parking will be suspended on Broadway, Liberty Street, Grand Street, and Prospect Street for the event.
Mayor Torrance Harvey praised the effort, saying, “Newburgh’s small businesses are vital to the fabric of our city. We are proud to support this event and the continued success of our local entrepreneurs.”
