Shannon O’Grady and Elisa Correa-Soto were appointed as Assistant Superintendents of Curriculum and Instruction during a special Newburgh Board of Education meeting on Thursday, August 1. Other scheduled items were also approved during the Thursday meeting.
The two newly appointed assistant superintendent positions will be effective September 1, 2024 and both will be under contract until August 31, 2027. Per the contract, both assistant superintendents will have a base salary of $200,000 through June 30, 2025. If applicable, there will be an annual stipend amount of $1,900 for holding a Doctoral Degree. Longevity amounts may also be applied. Each year of the contract, the base salary will be increased by three percent above the previous year’s base salary with additional stipend, if applicable, and longevity amounts.
Board members Philip Howard, John Doerre, Ray Burgarelli, Letitia Politi, Victoria Bousche and Mackenzie Bousche voted to approve the assistant superintendent agreements. Members Christine Bello, Fred Stewart and Thomasina Bello voted against the appointments.
Several other items from that evening included Lauren Durr appointed as the principal for Meadow Hill School, several teaching positions created and the signing of letter agreements with the Architectural Firm of CPL for extended services at the Vails Gate School and Heritage Middle School.
The next BOE meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 13 beginning at 7 p.m. and all district agendas and documents are made available on the district website.
