Robert “Bob” A. Mistretta, long time resident of New Windsor, passed away on December 13, 2021, he was 70 years old.

Robert (Bob) was born to Gene Mistretta and Fay Sgambati on June 11, 1951 in the Bronx, NY. Known as Bob to most, Hunny/Little Bobby to one, Dad to two, and his most prized title of Grampie to a lucky few.

Bob at 70 years old was still acting Superintendent of Mountain View Condominium’s in Valley Cottage, NY. A career that he loved so much for close to 4 decades being a man with a work ethic second to none. Prior to his career, Bob was a 1st Class United States Marine and enlisted on June 19, 1969. He was a patriot who believed in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  It was no secret that Bob had passion for fishing. He currently holds the record for the largest bass caught in Washington Lake, and was featured in BassMaster’s Magazine. His life as a fisherman was catch and release until he met his wife Suzie. Whether they were sitting side by side eating, playfully laughing, or holding hands it was no secret that their love and life was magical. Bob was many things…a fisherman, a Superintendent, a husband, a dad, and a Grampie. All of which he was hands on, all in, and full steam ahead. He was a social media rebel, a “bad to the bone” Facebook friend. In reality he was the happiest, softest man on Earth when he was snuggled up at home with his family. He taught us all that tears were allowed, mistakes happen, and at the end of the day all we needed was each other.

Bob was a simple man of few words. He loved our Myrtle Beach vacations, floating in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, and the occasional mudslides on vacation. Never could we have been prepared to stop making memories with this amazing man.

Bob leaves behind an army to cherish his memory, including his loving wife Sue Mistretta. His only son Bryan Mistretta and Fiancé’ Brittney Peterson of San Diego, CA. His daughter and son-in-law Tara and Ralph Palumbo along with his grandchildren Ralph Palumbo Jr., Killian Zayas, and Brooklyn Palumbo. Best friend Lyle Coyman and wife Ellen who selflessly have been by his side and helped through every battle he faced over the years, along with the many he loved and considered family.

Bob was predeceased by his father Gene Mistretta, mother Fay Sgambati, brother Anthony Mistretta, sister Judy Mistretta, and best friend Gary Berwick.

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 18, 2021 from 2-4pm with a prayer service immediately following at White, Venuto, & Morrill, 188 North Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
