Orange County Emergency Services Commissioner, Peter Cirigliano announced that Orange County police agencies and the STOP-DWI Coordinators will participate in special efforts to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving. Cirigliano states, “As we celebrate St. Patrick's Day, let's ensure our festivities remain safe for all. Through our collaborative high visibility law enforcement engagement campaign, we're committed to preventing impaired driving and protecting lives on our Orange County roads. Together, let's avoid unnecessary tragedies and make this holiday a celebration full of responsibility and safety."

Law enforcement officers across New York State and STOP-DWI programs will be participating in special engagement efforts. The statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign will start on Friday, March 14, 2025, and end on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County President, and Town of Crawford Police Department Chief Dominick Blasko emphasizes, “We will be increasing patrols during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. “Don’t count of the luck of the Irish to get home. Have a plan and get home safely.”

The STOP-DWI St. Patrick’s Day High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.  The Statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign also targets Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day/End of Summer, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Holiday Season and Super Bowl.

Captain Arthur Worden, New York State Police Troop F Zone 2 Commander shares, “As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, I urge everyone to celebrate responsibly by having a designated driver or making safe transportation arrangements. The New York State Police, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies will have increased patrols to ensure safety of our Orange County residents.”

Orange County Sheriff, Paul Arteta suggests, “Drive sober or get pulled over. This St. Patrick’s Day weekend, we are committed to keeping our roads safe. Enjoy the festivities but make responsible choices. Choose a designated driver or find alternative transportation. Don’t let one bad decision ruin your celebration and endanger lives.”
