The Newburgh Free Library will host a dedication ceremony for its new lactation space, The Nest, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. The event, organized in partnership with the Orange County Department of Health and MidHudson Chocolate Milk, is open to community members, local leaders, and coalition representatives.
The Nest, which opened last month, was partially funded by a Resilient Communities Mini-Grant from the Ramapo Catskill Library System. It offers a private, quiet area for patrons and staff who prefer an alternative to breastfeeding or chestfeeding in public areas of the library, as permitted by New York State law. The initiative also provides free resources supported by the Orange County Department of Health and MidHudson Chocolate Milk.
Speakers at the event will include representatives from the Orange County Department of Health and Chloé Vital of MidHudson Chocolate Milk, who will discuss the health benefits of breastfeeding and efforts to support families in the community. Lite refreshments will be served, and attendees will have the opportunity to tour the space.
