New Windsor to review labor agreement for plant reconstruction

Posted

The Town of New Windsor is preparing to approve a project labor agreement in January 2025 as part of the ongoing effort to reconstruct the Caesars Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The plant, originally built in 1974, requires significant repairs and upgrades. The project will increase the plant’s capacity from five million to eight million gallons of water per day, a key goal for the town board in recent years.

During a work session on Monday, Dec. 2, Town Supervisor Stephen Bedetti said the proposed labor agreement has been sent to Todd Diorio, president of the Hudson Valley Building and Construction Trades Council, for review. The project will be completed in two phases, with the labor agreement connected to the second phase.

Bedetti noted that questions about the agreement were returned to the town and that the town attorney is working on revisions. Once the edits are finalized, Bedetti will distribute copies to the board for review before a vote is taken.
