Nancy Pomarico, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on January 10, 2022. She was 97.

Daughter of the late Antonio and Erminia (DeFanis) Scialla, she was born December 7, 1924, in Patterson, NJ.

Nancy was the retired Secretary and Treasurer of Pomarico Construction Corp., Newburgh, NY. A longtime area resident, in the 1960’s she was a volunteer librarian for the East Coldenham Elementary School and volunteered with the local Girl Scouts. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and decorating. She was a wiz with numbers, and until the end, could quickly do calculations in her head. Nancy cherished her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the company of family and long-time friends who appreciated her humor and energy. She will be fondly remembered by all for her generous holiday celebrations.

Survivors include two sons, William A. Pomarico (Vicky) of Cary, NC and Michael A. Pomarico (Karen) of the Town of Newburgh; four daughters, Michele Pomarico (John Powers) of Seattle, WA, Diane P. Damico (Frank) of Chapel Hill, NC, Marie Maxson (Bruce) of Cooperstown, NY and Nancy Pratt (Charles) of Bradenton, FL; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Angelo William Pomarico in 2010; four brothers, Salvatore, Edward, Louis and Carmine Scialla; and a sister, Anne Muscarella.

A Graveside Service for immediate family only will take place 12:00 noon, on January 19, 2022, at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924, with Pastor Steve Aldrich officiating.

Plans for a Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name can be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, 800 Stonybrook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
