Man charged with waiving gun at pedestrians

Posted

On March 1 at 3:29 p.m., Newburgh police officers were dispatched to the area of Van Ness St. and Carpenter Ave. for a male waving a gun at pedestrians.

Officer Ambrosetti, Officer Herrera, and Officer Luna arrived on-scene and stopped Corey Owens, a 28 year-old Newburgh resident who matched the description. Officers then retrieved a jacket Owens discarded just prior to being stopped by the police and recovered a loaded 9mm Glock 43X semi-automatic pistol.

Owens was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Class B Felony.
