Wishing the Happiest of Birthdays to Luisa Romano who is cheerfully celebrating her special day on January 15, surrounded in the love of her dear family and friends, who appreciate this wonderful lady for her kind and gracious heart.  Luisa wishes everyone to know that she is proud to share her birthday with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Baptist Minister, who preached Non-Violence in pursuing his goal of Racial Equality.  African Americans in some parts of the United States were harshly discriminated.  Due in no small measure to the efforts of Dr. King, legislation was passed to assure that the words of the Declaration of Independence were not empty phrases: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

The life and hope and sacrifices of brave Dr. King should make us aware of prejudice and bigotry wherever it exists.  It’s important that we be informed and concerned citizens, and honor Dr. King’s “Dream” that all races could live and work together, treating each other with the precious dignity and respect that we deserve.
Thank you, Luisa, for sharing your birthday thoughts with a great man, and God bless you with love and peace, today and all year long.

Get your tickets, for the St. Patrick’s – St. Mary’s, Our Lady of the Lake Parish Feast Day Dinner Dance.  This year it will be on Sunday, March 13, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie.  If there are enough people interested in a bus, then a bus will be provided to transport people from St. Pat’s Church to the Grandview & back to St. Pat’s when the event is over.

Tickets are available now, so you can purchase them.  The cost this year is $80 per person.  This includes dinner, dancing and beer, wine & soda during both the cocktail hour and the dinner.  Cocktail hour is from 4 to 5 p.m., and the Dinner dance is from 5 to 9 p.m.

DJ Twist has graciously volunteered to DJ this event once again!  Please come support the parish family and enjoy a great night of dinner, dancing, and very good raffle prizes.  Hold on to your ticket, because they will be used for door prizes.

Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club will have an easy/moderate 2.5-3-mile hike/snowshoe, Saturday, Jan. 15, at Franny Reese State Park, Highland.

Explore the trails, old roads, and ruins of a 19th-century estate, on steep slopes overlooking the Hudson River.  Not a long walk, but be prepared for some good ups and downs.  You must have foot traction (i.e., Microspikes) with you; snowshoes if appropriate.  Small group.  Pre-register with leader, Georgette Weir, georgette.weir@gmail.com.  COVID restrictions apply!
May you always have a angel at you side.
