What a laugh:  Susan Scheible, the current Receiver of Taxes for New Windsor says, “I will be sure to continue to address any needs and concerns and to continue making the tax office run as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.”

 Toward the end of January, I realized I never received my tax bill, went to the Receiver’s office and was told it had been mailed.  The address wasn’t mine, but had been changed from Road to Court, then forwarded to an address in Rockland Co.  They insisted I’d requested the change – and that, even if I never received the bill, I could research when it was due, and pay on a timely basis whether I received it or not.  Penalty paid despite their error.

 What a money saver!  Why bother sending bills?  The Town could save money on paper, postage and man-hours by just waiting for residents to know when to pay bills.  Then the office of the Receiver of Taxes would really be efficient.
