Things never change with lovely people, they just become better and more beautiful each day of their lives.  Boy Scouts of America, Troop 327 sings loudly and lovingly, as they join their voices in wishing happiest birthday wishes to the quintessential scouting, wife and husband team, Dick and Lola Kusumoto, each year on their birth date.

Dick celebrated his special day on January 17, and Lola celebrates her special day on January 22.  But it is always a together celebration of life, love, and loyalty with this dear couple and their children and grandchildren, who acknowledge mom and dad’s love and devotion to family first, by the moral education of their children, training their hearts and minds towards doing good, being honest and kind, respecting hard work and responsibility, knowing love and forgiveness, and having faith.  The golden rules practiced by Lola and Dick every day of their lives have had ripple effects, on so many lucky boys and girls, men and women, their scouting family, and their own precious family.

I didn’t mean to segue from my original thoughts, but Lola and Dick have touched so many lives, and they are loved, respected, admired by the scouting family and community, for their lifelong dedication and achievement in bringing to light, the potential and creative talents of myriad young people, and for their lifelong commitment to educating our youth to do their best and to give to others, and to always be faithful to God and country.  May the good Lord bless you and your wonderful family with His gifts of joy and peace.

Msgr. Henry O’Carroll, Knights of Columbus Council 444 is very sorry to announce cancellations on three of their most popular events: Basketball Free Throw on Jan. 23; St. Valentine’s Day Dance on Feb. 12; Super Bowl Party on Feb. 13.

Let’s pray for healthier and happier times, and seek hope that in this dark moment of time, there will be light to dispel the darkness.

Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, co-listed with Catskill 3500 Club, will hike Windham High Peak, 6.2 miles, approximately 1500 ft. elevation gain, on Sunday, Jan. 23.  This is a moderate-strenuous hike at a relaxed pace for those of you just embarking on your 3500 - journey, or those just wanting a great day in the Catskills with fantastic views.  Weather permitting, from the summit we’ll be able to see all the way to Albany.  Please register with leader: Sharon Klein, CatsNGunks@gmail.com.  COVID rules are enforced.

May you always have an angel at your side.
