Concerns expressed for solar farm

The Town of New Windsor Planning Board issued a negative declaration for the lot line change but did not issue conditional approval for the site plan for a new solar farm at 108 Windsor Highway. The solar panels for the project would be placed on the proposed 13.12 acres along the hillside in New Windsor.

Arden Consulting Engineers, who appeared before the board during a public hearing last fall, have been addressing the concerns of resident Beverly Strack, owner of the property 114 Windsor Highway.

Strack had brought up concerns about her property being affected by the construction of the project. The applicant did confirm that Strack’s survey was correct but several buildings were not properly located. The applicant has worked with Strack to deed more land to her and has included a drainage easement.

According to the planning board, no proxy from Strack has been filed with the building department, which was required from the applicant for the application to be in order. The planning board will look to address the applicant again at a future meeting once a proxy has been obtained.
