Bronwen “Bronnie” Elizabeth Lewin, of New Windsor, passed away on September 7, 2021 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.  She was 69. 

 Bronnie was born on December 17, 1951 in Staten Island, NY to the late Clifton H. Jones and Nancy Thomas Jones.  

Bronnie is survived by her husband, David A. Lewin, of New Windsor, NY; children, Christopher Sylvester and his wife Vhia, of New Windsor, NY; and Daniel Sylvester, of New Windsor, NY.  She is further survived by her sister, Glynis Jones, of Bend, OR, stepmother, Joy Jones, of Bend, OR, and her ex-husband, Frederick Sylvester, of Coldenham.

Bronnie was a graduate of Singapore American High School and graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in 1974 with her teaching degree.  She had a diverse work history including working at Montgomery Nursing Home as an activity aide, working for the Town of Montgomery as a Receiver of Taxes, and teaching at Heather’s Child’s Place in Montgomery, NY.  Bronnie was a member of the Coldenham Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary, serving as Captain in 1984/1985.  She taught at the Meadow Hill Reformed Church Youth Group and taught CCD at the Church of the Assumption in Maybrook, NY.  Bronnie loved all of her students and her passion and dedication was apparent to all.

Bronnie was a caring and loving person that was beloved by her family and friends.  She always put the needs of others before her own, and her positive attitude and smile will never be forgotten.  Bronnie loved swimming, tennis, and being a mother to her two sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bronnie’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Walden (https://waldenhumane.org/donate/), located at 2489 Albany Post Rd, Walden.

Inurnment of her ashes will be held at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery & Mausoleum, Newburgh.

There will be a celebration of Bronnie’s life on September 18, 2021, at the Vails Gate Fire Company located at 872 Blooming Grove Tpk, New Windsor from 3 pm to 6 pm.
