Ann Street Gallery presents Dialogues of Black Artists

City Of Newburgh Recreation and We Are Newburgh in  collaboration with the  Newburgh Armory Unity Center presents its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1 at NAUC in the soccer field at 321 S. The Friends of the Library Back Door Books, a sale by donation book shop, located behind the Newburgh Free Library on  Montgomery Street, will be open Saturday, March 18 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  They have thousands of well sorted books in all categories both fiction and nonfiction.  They have an ever growing children’s section with hundreds books for all ages. 

This month’s feature is Lucky 7 -  buy a green Friends of the Library tote bag and fill it with books for $7!  Some exceptions apply, but there are thousands of books to choose from including a large number of DOGO (donate for one, get one).   They also have a good selection of books that celebrate Women’s History month.  
All proceeds from Back Door Books support the programs of the Newburgh Free Library.   There is parking behind the library on Montgomery Street.  Cash only, please! When visiting the library take a moment to check out The Friends Cafe in the lobby of the library.  We feature homemade muffins, cookies, sweet treats and soup in addition to coffee and other beverages. 

 
The Deacon Jack Seymour Parish Food Pantry is a ministry of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Sacred Heart Church that provides emergency food assistance for families of all faiths and backgrounds in the Newburgh area. Since 1997, volunteers have been providing groceries to help the local hungry. 
  
 Ann Street Gallery is proud to host this extended multi-media art exhibition conceived by Co-Curators Jonette O’Kelley Miller and Karen E. Gersch. “‘Cause We Be Complicated: Dialogues of Black Artists” honors Black History and features sixteen extraordinary visual artists. Originally installed at Art Design Spirits Gallery for the month of February; it has seen a stellar draw of visitors and received glowing articles in Chronogram, Times Herald Record, The Poughkeepsie Journal, Hudson Valley News and Arts Mid-Hudson. 
An Opening Reception on Saturday, Mar.25, from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. will launch the new exhibition at Ann Street Gallery; it is free and open to the public. Starting Sunday, Mar. 26 the Gallery will be open every Saturday and Sunday through Saturday, Apr. 29, from Noon - 5 p.m.  

In addition to public viewing hours, the Curators will offer (by appointment only), free weekday tours for regional schools, cultural centers, libraries, youth and arts organizations. Interested parties should contact them at jom.writes@gmail.com or keg37@frontier.com.  

The participating artists include Lillian Alberti, Carol Bash, Vernon M. Byron, Khalidah Carrington, Gerardo Castro, Melissa Small Cooper, Ted Dixon, Stevenson Estime, Collette V. Fournier, Oluwafiropo Margaret Ibitoye, F. Geoffrey Johnson, Cheryl D. Holmes Miller, Emmanuel Ofori, Ransome, Yvonne P. Lamar Rogers and Auguster D. Williams, Jr. 

The Gallery is located at 104 Ann Street. The Exhibition will run from Mar. 25 – Apr. 29, with an Opening Reception on Mar. 25 from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Public Hours will be every Saturday and Sunday, from Noon - 5 p.m. Private weekday tours are available. Msgr. Henry O’Carroll Council 444 Annual Communion Breakfast/Brunch on Mar. 26.  The Adult Faith Formation will host a Coffee and Bagel Hour on Mar. 26 at Sacred Heart after the 10 a.m. and 12 Noon Masses.  Apr. 16 at St. Francis after the 8:30 a.m. Mass.
