Alice Margaret Killeen, a resident of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on November 10, 2022. She was 100 years old.

Alice was born on February 15, 1922 in Newburgh to her loving parents, Edward F. and Alice Margaret Hayden McGraw. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and Spencerian Business School in Poughkeepsie. Alice is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Susan of Stuart, Florida.

During the summer of 1946, Alice started dating the love of her life, John (Dr. John D. Killeen). The couple married on December 28, 1946 at St. Patrick’s Church. Alice led a full life and was dedicated to her faith and family. Spirituality was an integral part of her life. She treasured her involvement with St. Mary’s Seniors and its faith community led by Fr. William Scafidi.

In spite of her petite frame, Alice was an avid bowler. On Tuesday’s, you would always find Alice at the Powelton Club with her golfing buddies. Her active lifestyle was one of the secrets to her longevity. Travel was another love. Many an August she and her daughter Susan would be off to either Ireland, Scotland or Wales. Equally they had a few misadventures in Germany and Austria. Two weeks ago, they both reminisced about highlights of those travels.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh. Fr. William Scafidi will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
