Friday, March 14 is National Write Your Story Day. In 1861, Harriet Jacobs wrote her story, “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.” Harriet was born into slavery in 1813 and escaped to freedom in New York in 1842. She worked for and lived with the N. P. Willis family of Cornwall-on-Hudson on what is now Idlewild Park Drive. You can see a copy of her book at the Cornwall Historical Society, which is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10 a.m.-1 p.m. or by appointment. When will you write your story?
