Warren F. Miller, of Cornwall, NY, and most recently Stonington, CT, passed away early Thursday morning, June 26, 2025, at Westerly Hospital, just one week after celebrating his 91st birthday. He spent his final weeks surrounded by the warmth and love of his devoted wife, Hilda E. Miller, four children and four grandchildren.

A lifelong creative artist of many forms and mediums, Warren dedicated 30 years as a civilian employee at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in the television and media department. Warren also worked part-time as a museum display artist at the Hall of Fame of the Trotter in Goshen, NY. Never content to be idle, following his retirement from West Point, Warren had another 20-year career as a sculptor and painter with Costume Armour, Inc. in Cornwall, NY, and also pursued many freelance projects. His work has been seen on stages across the world, at Disney Land, and some work is still displayed in Eisenhower Hall at West Point.

Warren grew up on Beaverdam Lake in Cornwall, NY, where he manifested a lifelong love for swimming, sailing, fishing, and all things outdoors. His passion for nature lives on in the lives of his children. Like their staple of winter, skiing at West Point, it wasn’t just something they did—it became a meaningful part of their life together, building a foundation that continues to bond the family today and moments that echo in the hearts of the family’s close friends. With his family he also shared his love for adventure and creativity, spent time with them hiking, helping with creative projects, and telling vivid stories of his mischievous youth. Warren’s children remember him for his steady temperament, dedication and unwavering support throughout their own life journeys. His grandchildren, who fondly called him “Big Pop,” will miss his warm smile and gentle presence.

Warren is survived by his wife Hilda E. Miller; son Michael Miller of Stow, OH & his wife Oi Miller; daughter Vanessa Miller of North Kingstown, RI & her husband Guy Shaffer; son Daniel Miller of Brooklyn, NY & his wife Alexandra Miller; daughter Gabriela Cordeiro of Little Falls, NJ & her husband Jamie Cordeiro; grandchildren Eva Shaffer (9), Mateo Shaffer (5), Rhodes Miller (3) and Weston Cordeiro (2); sister Janice Vizno of Shandaken, NY.

He was predeceased by his brother, Col. Wayne D. Miller in 2018.

A celebration of Warren’s long, full and beautiful life will be held at a later date closer to his lifelong home in Cornwall, NY.

Warren’s ashes will be laid to rest at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cornwall, NY. The Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, RI 02891 is assisting the family with arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.buckler-johnston.com.
