Highland Falls Mayor Joe D’Onofrio asked Paul and Shirley Miller to stop by Village Hall one morning last week so that he could present them with what he called the ‘Spirit of Santa Claus’ award for community service. The Millers, as can be evidenced by the picture D’Onofrio is holding, have close ties to Santa and Mrs. Claus and facilitate them visiting both Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery – with the assistance of FuFu Galu – each holiday season. The plaque the Millers received read: “In grateful recognition for embodying the spirit of Santa Claus with warmth, generosity and joy. Your dedication to spreading holiday cheer has brought smiles to countless faces and made the season brighter for all. Thank you for making magic real, year after year. Merry Christmas!”
