The Jelly Bean Bandits were a band in the late 1960s that featured two Cornwall musicians, one Highland Falls musician and two Newburgh musicians. They recorded one album in 1967 and broke up after two years.
Some 30 years later their music was being discovered in Europe and thanks to websites like Spotify, it was selling better in the 2000’s then it did in the 1960s. The band got back together and recorded new material, one that was submitted for a Grammy in 2012.
Now, what they did as a band, and as individuals, is the subject of a fascinating 2024 video. If this documentary about local musicians is of interest to you, here is the link: https://youtu.be/rN3VCiFUMYE
Michael Raab, now a resident of North Carolina, was one of those band members. He’s a 1960 CCHS graduate, former Cornwall Local employee (“won a newspaper award in 1975 for a special edition on history”) and currently a video producer.
