Posted

On December 28, at approximately 11:12 a.m., Troopers out of the Haverstraw barracks responded to a report of an individual jumping off the Bear Mountain Bridge. The preliminary investigation revealed that the 32-year-old male victim parked on the eastbound side of the Bear Mountain Bridge and subsequently jumped off the bridge.

On December 31, it was announced that the State Police Underwater Recovery Team had responded and located the victim deceased in the Hudson River.

The Fort Montgomery Fire Department and Town of Highlands Police responded to the initial call at the bridge, as did the Stony Point, Thiells and Continental Village Fire Departments.
