The Cornwall Public Library will host a poetry reading on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:15 p.m. J.R. Solonche, 2024 Orange County Poet Laureate, will read selected poems from his award nominated collection. Attendees will also hear poetry written by the library’s talented Creative Writers Group. Patrons are invited to attend for an afternoon of poetry and to experience the extraordinary talent of the community.
J.R. Solonche, Professor Emeritus of English at SUNY Orange and the 2024 Orange County Poet Laureate, has an extensive collection of poetry published in over 500 magazines, journals, and anthologies since the early 1970s. His work has appeared in prestigious publications such as the New York Times, American Journal of Poetry, and The Literary Review, among others. Additionally, his poetry has been featured on Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac and other radio programs and has been translated into multiple languages. He currently lives in the Hudson Valley.
The Cornwall Public Library Creative Writers Group meets weekly on Mondays at 11:30 am in the library community room. This in-person adult group of creative writers always welcomes new members.
The poetry reading is a drop in, family-friendly program. No registration required.
