Nicholas J. Visconti, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY, entered eternal rest on September 20, 2024, at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY. He was 80 years old.
The son of the late Nicholas Gerard Visconti and Angelina (Cirigliano) Visconti, Nicholas was born on September 2, 1944 in the Bronx, NY.
Nicholas was a retired Deputy Chief for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) in New York City. He spent over three decades of service in the FDNY and UFOA, where he was not only a firefighter but also a beacon of hope, courage, and compassion. His commitment to his role was steadfast, and his leadership during the recovery efforts following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, was nothing short of heroic. He played a vital role in the World Trade Center recovery operations, tirelessly working alongside his colleagues to support, recover, and rebuild amid immense sorrow and loss. Nicholas’ warmth extended beyond his professional life. A loving husband and father, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was an active community member – generously devoting his time to Meals on Wheels, volunteering countless hours at Black Rock Fish & Game Club, and passionately supporting and coaching his children and other young athletes in Little League Baseball and Softball. As a grandfather, you could find him cheering for his grandchildren on sports fields and rinks from New York to Colorado.
