On Wednesday, November 6, the ‘Sit ’n Chat’ local history group will learn about a centenarian with a foot in Orange County and the other one in Westchester. Depending on your location and cultural background, this 100-year oldster is feminine or masculine, graceful or sturdy but, most certainly, useful and needed.
Frank Goderre, a local Peekskill/Cortlandt historian, will present information on the Harrimans, the history of the Bear Mountain Bridge, the Bear Mountain Hudson River Bridge Company construction and the economic impact to the area. Frank is also the Historian at the Bear Mountain Bridge Toll House Museum, as well as President of the NYSP Troop F Heritage Association.
This program, sponsored by The Center of Highland Falls, will include audiovisual segments, and interactive discussion with audience participation. Bring your questions and oral history memories to share in this relaxed setting. The American Legion Hall is located at 134 Old State Road, Highland Falls. The session is from 6-7 p.m.
