Jim Kane announces run for mayor

Posted

Longtime Cornwall-on-Hudson Village Trustee Jim Kane has announced he will run for the position of mayor in the Tuesday, March 18 village election.

The mayor’s position and two trustee seats are up for election -- the two trustees whose seats are up are Dave Carnright and William Braine.

Kane has served on the board since 2010, six of those 14 years as deputy mayor to former Mayor Brendan Coyne and current Mayor James Gagliano.

An attorney by trade, Kane works as an energy market advisor at the New York Power Authority. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2015, as a lieutenant colonel.

In a letter in today’s Cornwall Local, Kane says if elected he will “remain committed to a continuation of practical, common sense, bipartisan, collaborative solution-seeking and will listen and heed resident concerns”. See his letter on page 8.

At press time, no one else has made an announcement about their candidacy for the board.

Also on the village ballot in March will be a referendum to extend trustee terms from two to four years. If this passes, it would apply to the trustees up for election in 2026, not the ones on the ballot in March.
