Isabelle Ann Russo, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2025 at Taconic Rehabilitation & Nursing at Beacon in Beacon, NY. She was 86 years old.
The daughter of the late James Turner and Gladys (Hunter) Turner, Isabelle was born on September 28, 1938 in Toronto, Canada.
Isabelle received her RN in Canada, practiced her first year of nursing there, then moved to the US. She worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY for many years as a head nurse in the ICU and then the Infection Control unit. She was well known for her beauty, intellect and humor.
Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband: James J. Russo, Sr. in 2002. She is survived by her daughter: Jill Russo-Downey and her husband VADM James Downey of Washington DC; by her sons: James J. Russo, Jr. and his wife Rena of Allendale, NJ; Mark Russo of New Windsor, NY and by her grandchildren: Frank Russo, Kaitlyn Russo, James Russo, Dylan Russo, Jilliann (Jasper) Downey and Jax Downey.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Chapel Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. following the Visitation. Graveside services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alzheimer’s.org) in her memory. She fought valiantly against this cruel disease that took so much away from her and her family.
