History behind SKE Engine #2 uniform patch

Posted

If you take a close look at the patch on the turnout gear of Storm King Engine Company #2 members, you’ll see that it’s dedicated to a long-ago member who lost his life in the line of duty in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Designed in-house by the members of Storm King Engine Company #2 in 2016, the company patch displays a star at the top in memoriam of Firefighter Thomas M. Ringlehan who died on June 12, 1973, as the department responded to a structure fire at West Point. On the way to the call, the engine was involved in a motor vehicle accident with an oncoming vehicle that claimed the life of Firefighter Ringlehan. “Every time that our department responds to an alarm the firefighters wearing our turnout gear have Tommy responding with them and watching over them,” SKE members note.
