The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Halloween Spooktacular and Howl and Prowl Parade on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 3-5 p.m.
This is the 10th anniversary of the Spooktacular, the Chamber’s Eileen Hartmann said, and in honor of that anniversary the Cornwallis Family Homestead will appear for one day after 200 years on Bridge Street, and the Cornwallis Sisters will judge the costume contest!
Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes for Children, Family/Group and Pets.
There will also be craft making, delicious treats and trick or treating. There will be a story reading by Good Books and dance party with DJ Kevin Soundz!
“We can’t wait to see this year’s exciting costumes,” Hartmann said. “The Cornwall Chamber is grateful to the Main Street Revitalization Committee members and Cornwall Youth Committee for helping to make this a special day for Cornwall. We look forward to a spooky exciting day of fun!”
Here’s what’s to look for:
3-3:50 p.m. - Sign up for the costume contest and visit the Cornwallis House to see the Sisters for judging
3 - 5 p.m. - Trick or Treating and crafts along Main Street
4 p.m. - Howl & Prowl Halloween Parade (starts by Torrey Lane and proceeds up Main Street toward the circle). In the parade, Pets go first, children with pets are next, and children, families and groups round out the parade

4:45 p.m. - The presentation of costume contest winners. Categories are: Children – Spookiest, Funniest, and Most Creative; Pets – Best in Show, Spookiest, Funniest and Most Creative; and Family/Group – Best Costume
In two other Halloween events on October 27:
Before Spooktacular, Cornwall Pride and Orange County Queer Collective present Pumpkin Pride, starting at 1 p.m. at Munger Cottage. Please join with the Queer community and our allies as we celebrate Halloween. Wear your costume! All ages welcome, kid-friendly. Pumpkin painting, spooky stories, Monster Mash, cider and snacks.
And, just after Spooktacular, from 5 - 6:30 p.m., Cornwall’s Girl Scouts will host a Trunk or Treat in the Town Hall parking lot.
There’s also one Halloween thing to do in the community on Saturday, October 26 – the Cornwall Lions Club will host its annual Halloween Window Art Contest on Main St. in Cornwall and Hudson St. in Cornwall-on-Hudson, from 9 a.m. to noon (rain date is Sunday, Oct. 27). It’s free and supplies are provided! Visit cornwallnylions.org for more information.
