The Cornwall Public Library seeks innovative, community-minded people interested in helping guide the library into the future. Two trustee positions will be on the ballot at the annual budget vote on Tuesday, April 22. The openings are for three-year terms. Candidates must be willing to serve their full term. Trustees determine the fiscal budget, set policy and help discern the library response to community needs. Members of the Board of Trustees attend monthly meetings, committee meetings, and work sessions as needed. Trustees normally serve on two committees.
Candidates must meet the following legal requirements: be at least 18 years of age, be a citizen of the U.S., and have legal residency in the Cornwall Central School District for at least the past 30 days.
For people interested in running for the position of library trustee, petitions are currently available to pick up at the Cornwall Public Library during regular library hours or can be downloaded from the library website: cornwallpubliclibrary.org/library-trustee-election-2025/. Petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the Cornwall Central School District and must be filed at the library no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21, to be included on the ballot.
