Cornwall Garden Club enjoys spring luncheon

Posted

On Sunday March 9, members of the Cornwall Garden Club gathered for their annual “Spring Luncheon” at Temple Hill Tavern in Vails Gate. This is the largest meeting of the year.

The meeting combines a social hour, a buffet lunch and a business meeting. The meeting would not be complete without poems read by Marie-Elise Pearson.
Ann Bloom, Deborah Morris, and Arlene DeSocio, officers of District X, Federated Garden Clubs of NYS, Inc. conducted the installation ceremony for the Executive Board for 2025-2026.

This year’s officers include Corresponding Secretary Nancy Wills; Co-Treasurers Andrea Hamburger and Patricia Gilardo; Recording Secretary Barbara O’Rourke; Third Vice Presidents Program 2026-2027 Heather Stuart, Alexandra Szechenyi; 3rd Vice Presidents 2025-2026 Elizabeth Heldt, Barbara O’Rourke; 2nd Vice presidents Beautification Denise Nichols, Virginia Scott; First Vice Presidents of membership Lisa Morasse, Eileen Wood; and Co-Presidents Nancy Faust and Robin Portelli.

Since its beginnings in 1910 as the Canterbury Village Improvement Society, the Cornwall Garden Club has been beautifying public grounds here in Cornwall. Members of the club participate in many activities, including trips to public gardens.

Some of the highlights for the upcoming year include Blooming Hill Farm, Bannerman’s Island and Trestle Farm. Members share information through floral design, horticulture exhibits and talks and workshops. Often there are guest speakers on a variety of gardening and environmental topics and members benefit through our membership in Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Central Atlantic Region of State Garden Clubs and National Garden Clubs.

The Annual Plant Sale is planned for May 10, located on the grounds of Cornwall Town Hall. They look forward to seeing you again at this community tradition.
