The Board of Education adopted the Cornwall Central School District’s 2024-25 tax levy at its meeting on August 12.
The school district will operate, as approved by voters in May, on a $90,260,773 budget this current school year.
To be collected in taxes is $53,939,921 – of that the school district gets $52,462,363 and the Cornwall Public Library gets $1,477,558.
Tax rates are as follows:
In Cornwall: The total assessed valuation is $1,481,231,712. The school tax rate per $1000 (of assessed valuation) is 26.374190, and the library rate per $1000 is .742807, making a total tax rate per $1000 of 27.116997. The total tax to be collected from Cornwall residents is $40,166,555.25.
In New Windsor: The total assessed valuation is $66,070,526. The school tax rate per $1000 (of assessed valuation) is 161.541913, and the library rate per $1000 is 4.549691, making a total tax rate per $1000 of 166.091604. The total tax to be collected from New Windsor residents is $10,973,759.64.
In Woodbury: The total assessed valuation is $44,832,614. The school tax rate per $1000 (of assessed valuation) is 60.735193, and the library rate per $1000 is 1.710555, making a total tax rate per $1000 of 62.445748. The total tax to be collected from Woodbury residents is $2,799,606.11.
The collection of taxes begins on September 1 and ends on November 4. From September 1-30 there are no penalties; from October 1 to October 31 a two percent penalty is added; and from November 1 to November 3, three percent interest is added on to the total amount due.
Taxes can be paid in person at the district’s business office, 24 Idlewild Avenue, Cornwall-on-Hudson. No cash is accepted.
