Our Montgomery Free Library has some announcements. They are open with limitations in keeping with guidelines which means curb-side only. The hours are Monday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m..,  Tuesday and Thursday 12 to 2 p.m.
Call to make arrangements for a pick up time 457-5616. There is no inter-library loan at this time which means you cannot request to borrow a book from another library. All items you borrow (borrowed, look around your house) must be returned to the outdoor book drop which is located on the front porch and you can only borrow three items at a time.  Interesting side note: I heard on a radio interview that people are putting books in the microwave to disinfect them. This is not recommend and is not a good idea as many have the metal chips (radio frequency tags )  inside that could catch fire and destroy the book and your microwave. Cleaning with bleach is also not recommended. All  returned materials are quarantined for at least 72 hours.

Richards Dairy Shed, founded in 1961,  is open for on-line ordering only for curb side pick-up. The hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 12:30 to 9 p.m., closed Monday and there is a limited menu.  Call 457-7744 when you arrive to have your order brought to your car.  Kind of like of the days with car-hops. I wonder if they will use roller skates ?   Go to : richardsdairyshed.com.

News of another opening! Reannas Closet will open in its new location on Rt. 17K Montgomery right down from the high school. Her planned date is July 15. She will carry the finest in accessories, second hand shoes, purses, jewelry and more. Lets all give her a warm welcome back.

The Wallkill River School of Art is hosting the 5th Annual Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival from October 13-18, 2020.

The event attracts artists from all over the United States to a week-long Plein Air Competition.
This year the School anticipates over 30 artists who will be painting at scenic locations throughout the Hudson Valley.  Artists are selected by a jury of three well known and respected plein air painters and are invited to apply until August 15 with an early bird deadline of July 1 (see hvpleinair.com for more info).
Participating artists are required to produce at least three original works of art, painted “en plein air” (outdoors) during the festival. The week of painting ends with two public events; the first is a “Quick Draw” held October 18 at a location to be announced in which the public is invited to participate.  Later that day, the public is invited to attend (Covid-19 restrictions permitting) the opening exhibit of the artists’ work at the Wallkill River School of Art in Montgomery.
The exhibit lasts until December after which will be a traveling show of the artwork throughout Orange County until April 2021.  This year the festival is also open to artists of all skill levels as Non-Competing Participants whose work will be exhibited online on the School’s website.
For more information about this event, please see the Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival website at hvpleinair.com

From the Montgomery Senior Center, the  Advisory Board met and began discussions regarding what steps would be advisable and prudent when they reopen.   Trish has contacted the same nurse who has an expertise in infection control and teaches health care professionals.  She is  willing to help and will be an important part of the reopening efforts.

Dial A Ride, the Town of Montgomery and Crawford transportation service is now available. Facial coverings are required. Call 457-2622 for more info.  24 hour advance notice is required.
