Walden Fire Department elects new officers

On December 10, members of the Walden Fire Department met to vote for the 2021 officer line-up.
Line officers are as follows: Chief of the Department: Michael McNamee; 1st Assistant Chief; Larry Sager; 2nd Assistant Chief: George Brown; Captain: Brad Davis and Jason Faso; 1st Lieutenant: Jim Grismer; David Cable and Dave Kurtz; 2nd Lieutenant: Kristi Hall; Harry Edwards and Kevin McColl. Civil Officers: President; Chris Ryan; Vice President: Denise Miller; Recording Secretary: Kristi Hall;Financial Secretary: Kevin McColl; Treasurer: Sam Phelps; Sgt. of Arms: Barry Estep; Asst. Sgt. of Arms: Christian Colgan; Senior Drivers: Sam Phelps and Rubin Enchautegui.

In spite of Covid-19 the Walden Fire Department and area churches are proceeding with Operation Dalmatian - a program that gives gifts to children.

To participate you must file a new application every year. Pick up an application form at the Walden Police Department, on line or call Pattie Williams at 845-764-5811.
Unlike previous years when gifts were delivered, this year gifts must be picked up at the Walden Firehouse, 230 Orange Avenue on Saturday, December 19 between 9 a.m. and noon.

Walden Sunshine members send special Birthday greetings on December 19 to Joe Neritech. May it be the best ever Joe!
Walden Rotary Club members send Happy Birthday wishes to Tom Olley on December 19 and to Rotary President, Michael Bliss who celebrates his birthday on December 21. Thank you both for all you do for this great organization.

Robert Score, talented artist noted for his pen and ink drawings has donated several prints as a fundraiser for the Walden Historical Society. Bob was scheduled to present a live art showing of his amazing pen and ink drawings at the Jacob T. Walden House. However, it was canceled due to Covid-19. There are still a few left: 1 unframed print of the iron bridge in Montgomery and 2 prints of the Montgomery Wallkill Valley steam engine. The print of the Walden railroad station in winter is not available at this time.

Each print measures 10’ x 14”. They are offered for sale at $25. If mailing is needed there is a charge of $5 for handling plus postage.

Shop for the holidays at the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden! Their next indoor yard sale will be held on Thursday, December 17, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Face masks are required. All proceeds benefit the care of the animals at the shelter. For information call the shelter at 778-5115. This is the season of giving. Please bring a donation of food or cleaning supplies. Thank you for your support.

For a $20.00 donation you have a chance to win $25 daily/$40 on Sunday/$75 on Holidays. No drawing on Christmas Day. $100 - New Year’s Eve. It’s time to remind you that during the Winter weather it is unlawful for any person to park, place or leave their automobile, truck or any other vehicle on any public road or street in the Village of Walden after snowfall of 2 inches or more.
Vehicles will be ticketed and towed at owners’ expense. Snow parking rules will remain in effect until snowfall has ceased and all snow has been removed from public streets.
