Walden celebrates Christmas in the Square

Posted

The Village of Walden Recreation and Parks Department kicked off the holiday season with Christmas festivities at Municipal Square on Thursday night.

The Foxhill Community began the festivities with Christmas caroling. Their talented singers belted classic hits such as “Joy to the World” and “Deck the Halls.” More local musicians such as the New York School of Music and the Walden Elementary School Community Choir sang Christmas carols.

There was even a live nativity scene in the square. Shepherds were present at the scene and so was a live donkey. Meanwhile, people could adopt a free winter coat at the Hunter Insurance Office. The moment all had been waiting for came when Santa Claus arrived and the tree was lit.

After the event, Santa continued to spread Christmas cheer at St. Andrew’s Hall. People got to take free photographs with him and enjoy refreshments provided by the Walden Women’s Club and the Walden Community Council.
