Village to commemorate Veteran’s Day

Congratulations to Village of Walden Police Chief Jeffry Holmes on receiving the Walden Rotary Club Service Above Self Award. He is a man who truly defines Service Above Self. Just want to say thank you Chief for all you have done for our Community. You will truly be missed upon your retirement in July of 2020.

Members of the Walden Senior Group send Happy Birthday wishes to fellow members, Fred Baumann and Alice Bosaeky who both celebrate November birthdays. Just know there will be birthday cake on the menu.
Caitlyn Ramaglia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Christopher Ramaglia, is looking forward to her 8th birthday on November 9. Her sister Erin and brother Mathew want a piece of cake!
Chef Mason Hoffman, son of Sean and Cara Hoffman will celebrate his 10th birthday on November 10. His brother Noah will be on hand to join in the celebration.

Walden Sunshine members send birthday greetings to Ginny McFadden on November 11 and thanks her for all she does for this great organization. Enjoy your special day Ginny!

Just received word that the Village of Walden Police Department will hold their awards ceremony at Angry Orchard, 2241 Albany Post Road, Walden tonight, November 6 at 7 p.m.

The Coldenham Garden Club will meet on Thursday, November 7, 1 p.m. at the Coldenham Fire House Social Hall, 511 Coldenham Road, Walden to plan their 2020 programs. The public is always welcomed to attend.

The Walden United Methodist Church Holiday Fair will be held on Saturday, November 8, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, 15 Walnut Street. Check out all the General, Fall and Christmas crafts, “Classy Attic Treasures”, new to you jewelry, books, bake sale and lunch room. Something for everyone. The Walden Humane Society will hold a Penny Social on Saturday, November 9 at the Walden Fire House, 230 Old Orange Avenue. Doors open at 2 p.m.; calling begins at 4 p.m. Homemade refreshments served. Door prizes, gift baskets and 50/50 also available. For information call 778-5115. Come to the Penny Social and support the animals.

Walden Veterans Memorial Park, 150 West Main Street is the site of the 9th Annual Veterans Day and 2019 Brick Dedication and Rededication Ceremony. You are all invited to attend the ceremony on Sunday, November 10 at 1 p.m. to pay tribute to our veterans. A free shuttle bus is available for transportation from the Oak Street Parking Lot and back.
Join us for refreshments and friendship at the V. F. W. immediately following the ceremony. This event is sponsored by the Walden Veterans Park Committee and the Walden Community Council.

The Town of Montgomery will honor our Veterans on Monday, November 11, 11 a.m. at Montgomery Town Hall, 110 Bracken Road. You are all invited to attend and pay tribute to our Veterans.

Hunter Insurance Services, 70 Oak Street, Walden will host the Wednesday, November 13th meeting of the Walden Community Council at 7 p.m. All are encouraged to attend and join in the many forthcoming holiday activities in our Village. For information call Sue at 778-3532. See you at the meeting.

The Village of Walden is planning a Senior Trip to the Westchester Dinner Theatre on Friday, December 13 to see “It Happened One Christmas”. Sign up day is Thursday, November 14 in the 2nd Floor Community Room of the Municipal Building. At 2 p.m. Village of Walden residents register at $25 per person; at 2:30 p.m. Non-residents register at $35 per person. This trip is open to adults over 55 only. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Only 50 seats available. Questions – call 778-2177 ext. 1524.

Do you know of someone who should be nominated for one of the following awards. Mary Jean “Midge” Norman Volunteer of the Year; Ronald I. Jacobowitz Youth of the Year Scholarship; Sam Phelps Service Award or the Community Business of the Year. The Village of Walden is currently seeking nominations for the 9th Annual Leadership Day. Walden Baptist Church, 38 Bank Street will hold a $3 a bag Gently Used Clothing Sale on Saturday, November 16, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Shopping Bag provided. Extra parking located behind the church.

Story Time for ages 2 1/2 and older continue every Tuesday in November, 10:30 a.m.
Jumpstart Read for the Record Annual Event will be held on Thursday, November 7. The drop-in activity will focus on “Thank You, Omu!” by Oge Mora.
The Library’s new Spanish/Bilingual Story Time with Maria Ferrin will be held Thursday mornings, 10:30 a.m. November 7, 14 and 21.
Learn how to do “Flat Felting” and create your one bag with Christina Adams on Thursday, November 14, 6 p.m. This program is for adults and young adults. Please register ahead of time for this program so that we have enough materials for everyone.
