Kudos to the Scouts of Montgomery Brick Church Cub Pack 4030 for their special act of kindness performed on February 13. Their Cub Master, Art Fitzgerald sent word that Cub Pack 4030 displayed the true meaning of the scout by being friendly, kind, cheerful, and thrifty, which are keys to the Scout Law.
The Scouts made Valentine’s cards for the residents of the Montgomery Nursing Home. After delivering their handmade cards the scouts entertained the residents with some fun playing in the snow while residents watched from their window. The event was a reported hit with the residents and the Scouts had a good time while performing a good deed.
Thanks to Cub Pack 4030 representing Walden, Maybrook and Montgomery for a job well done!

The Village of Walden (VOW) has a Rehab Loan Program. This loan program was born out of reimbursement of HUD loans taken out by the owners that were building Walden View Apartments. Initially the funds were used for applicants under certain income qualifications, but a VOW audit and subsequent follow up with HUD determined income qualifications were no longer required.
Certain income limits can get reduced interest rate loans or deferred payments. The interest rates are 0-3%.Current balance available is approximately $1,000,000.00. Outstanding loans are approximately $600,000. Nine residents applied and qualified for the loans in 2020.
The Village of Walden would like to see more residents participate in this program. Application forms are on line at villageofwalden.org . They can also be obtained at the VOW Building Department or the Village Office on the 3rd floor of the Walden Municipal Building.
Residents are welcome to call Dean Stickles, Building Inspector at (845) 778-2177, ext. 3 or John Revella, Village Manager at (845) 778-2177, ext. 5, then 2 for additional information on this loan program.
