Town of Montgomery presents Climate Smart Expo

The town and villages of Montgomery invite you to an afternoon of outdoor fun, a mini Repair Café and practical home energy efficiency information at the Climate-Smart Montgomery Expo on Sunday, September 20 from 1:30 – 4:30 pm. At Benedict Farm Park, Route 17K.
Come enjoy games for the kids and free food for everyone. Local energy experts will be on hand to answer questions about the latest clean technologies, including air source and geothermal heat pumps and building efficiency improvements.
The mini Repair Cafe will accept small electrical items/appliances, costume jewelry and fabric clothing, fabric toy repairs. Items are limited to 2 per person and must be brought between the hours of 1:30 and 4 p.m. to allow time for repair. Be prepared to assist our coaches in wiping down items prior to repair. This is an outdoor event. Please remember social distancing and masks are still required at all the activities.
The expo will showcase HeatSmart Montgomery —a local opportunity to significantly reduce home energy consumption. HeatSmart helps residents learn about improved clean energy choices for their home or small business and find incentive funds to offset the investment.

On average, a New York home devotes 75% of its energy expenses to heating and cooling, costing over $2500 a year. The local HeatSmart effort is designed to make clean heating and cooling technologies accessible, and the process easy for homeowners to learn more, sign up for a free assessment and determine if these energy-saving technologies are right for their home. The organizers of the campaign offer nonprofit support to familiarize residents with the latest options, provide vetted contractors, explain available rebates, financing and incentives, and answer questions.
The Climate-Smart Montgomery Expo is free and open to the public. Registration is not required but encouraged. One tree will be planted for every registered attendee! The event’s rain date is September 27.
