Seth Logan returns to pitch for the Vikings

Seth Logan led Valley Central’s baseball team in hitting last season as a sophomore. Now the junior returns this spring to pitch for the Vikings and play in the outfield.

“Right now he’s working as an outfielder, he’s had issues with his shoulder,” said Eric Bartle, Valley Central’s coach. “Very good outfielder. He gets a good jump on the ball.”

Logan started baseball in T-ball when he was young, and he has not stopped playing the game.

“It’s the best sport in my opinion. I love playing baseball,” he said.

And since he starting playing baseball, Logan has developed into a player that is reliable at the plate and in the field.

“Strong arm, very good baseball instincts,” said Bartle. “He will be, hopefully, one of our top hitters this year.”

Logan comes back to the Vikings this spring with a shoulder on the mend after injuring it last summer when he was pitching.

“I’ll just play through it,” he said. “As long as I am out there, I’ll be able to play.”
The Vikings get ready this spring following an early implosion in 2018 that ended with a 4-16 record. In 2017, the Vikings reached the Section 9, Class AA final and lost to Kingston.

“This year we are going to work more as a team. We’re going to try and bond together and not be selfish,” he said. “We’re a team this year. We’re not going to worry about ourselves.”

And to help the Vikings this year, Logan is going to work on his game and hopefully hit as well or better than he did in 2018.

“I am just going to work harder and get healthy,” he said. “I am trying to have a higher batting average this year.”
